Mariborchan.com moved to paid hosting
Transition Problems
As some visitors may have noticed, the site moved from wordpress.com to a wordpress.org installation runing on a private host. This has caused some trouble, like some videos not displaying on the site and some links not working (or not working properly).
The move to wordpress.org also removed me from the ‘wordpress.com blogosphere’, where people could find my blog according to individual post tags. Although this might not be completely true, since the old site is still running on http://mariborchan.wordpress.com/, the individual posts only redirect to the new page I’ve set up. So if you visit the old page or click on an old link it will take you to the new site. But it is probably true for new posts which will only appear on the new site.
Why the move?
Moving to wordpress.org enables me to customize the site according to my ideas, while hosting the site on wordpress.com prohibited me from changing anything. I was given a limited number of visual templates to work with, I couldn’t access the source code to change small things and I couldn’t install plugins. What frustrated me the most was that while the blog started to grow in size, the navigation it used was becoming less and less useful, so people often missed a lot of the content. Most importantly the move enables me to add additional, different pages next to the basic blog site. A lot of people have suggested that I also release the material in torrent form and I will probably do it in the near future. But although I’m a long time user of torrents I have bad experiences with releasing content that way, since people tend to stop seeding the material after a while and once I even lost a whole set of lectures this way. It is usable distribute the content though, but requires additional work. The site has generated a lot of visitors lately, figures going at about 800 visits per day in the last month. I hope the move won’t turn too many people off, since this is the last thing I would want. I’ve spend a lot of effort in building this site.
Who are you and what is this site about anyway?
I’m just an individual enthusiast doing everything from gathering content all over the internet to repacking it in the appropriate form to make it more accessible. This includes audio, video and text. I’ve also recorded some of the material myself (most notably the videos of the 2009 masterclass in London). This is a one-man, non-profit operation and currently the lack of technical knowledge and time is prohibiting me from realizing the whole project.
I really like your site! How can I help?
You can help the web page by simply sharing the links, letting your friends about it, etc. You also contribute by subscribing to my YouTube, Twitter, Scribd and blog RSS feed pages. Comments, ratings, criticism and suggestions are also helpful. I could also use anyone with at least a basic knowledge of wordpress coding or anyone dealing with website design in general. And, of course, if you have any material that you think would fit the other content published on this site don’t hesitate to contact me. And last, but not least, please give suggestions and report problems with the site itself.

Is there an RSS feed for this site? I can’t seem to find it, and I like to get updates when you get new stuff..
Yes, of course http://mariborchan.com/feed/
I’m sorry for the trouble, I will add all of the missing content soon.
